The Shore Theater is producing a new adaptation of the famous Tristan legend at The 2010 New York International Fringe Festival."Tristan & Isolde" is based upon the ancient poems of Gottfried, Beroul, and Thomas, telling the saga of warrior Tristan who falls in love with Irish Princess Isolde. This adaptation is told through poetic realism and verse, and features the decisive battle Tristan has with Irish raider Morholt, who threatens the Kingdom of Cornwall, ruled by Tristan's uncle, Mark. Through fate, Tristan meets Isolde whom he convinces King Mark to marry in an effort to align the English and Irish kingdoms of Cornwall and Dublin. At stake, is a defense against impending barbarian invasion. As Tristan takes Isolde to wed his uncle, he falls madly in love with his uncle's new bride. As he pursues forbidden love, he and Isolde open their hearts to great human truth, while they meet with danger, betrayal, and loss in this ultimate tragic love story.
